15th March 2018
Welcome to the 2018 golf season – we hope that this year`s golf outings will be every bit as enjoyable as past outings. We believe the golf courses we have chosen for our outings will provide an exciting challenge to all golfing abilities.
I would like to thank everybody who participated in the Society’s outings over the past year. In particular, I would like to congratulate and thank the outgoing committee and Captain, Ray Rogers, for their enthusiasm and hard work during the year.
The committee has decided to retain the annual membership fee at €30.00, whilst maintaining an approximate cost of all outings at €40.00 for members. This represents tremendous value when you consider the quality of courses we intend to play in 2018.
We commence with our first outing of the year in the superb links course that is Baltray and follow up with a range of parkland courses including Headfort New & Royal Tara before ending the year down in the south east with the championship links course of Rosslare GC.
It is expected that everyone registers at least 20 minutes prior to the first tee time and all pairings will be drawn at this stage. Anyone arriving later than this runs the risk of being left on their own or in a two-ball at the tail of the field. The draw will not be changed to accommodate latecomers.
We would encourage all members to attend as many of the outings as possible. We will once again run the golfer of the year competition selecting your best scores over 4 outings. Golfer of the year will be presented on the captains Day in September.
To provide all golfing abilities with the opportunity to be in the winner's enclosure, we will once again retain the category format in 2018. I know last year's committee were particularly pleased to see so many different golfing abilities take home a prize at the end of the year. Category prizes will also be presented on the Captains day.
I look forward to seeing you at as many outings as possible in 2018.New members and visitors are always welcome.
Yours in golf,
Mary Hennessy (Captain)
